Bob Leatherbarrow

Bob Leatherbarrow has been a top drummer for both the studios

and live performances ever since he moved to Los Angeles from

Buffalo, New York in 1978. A working professional since the age of

14, Bob has been playing with top musicians in all-different musical

settings for most of his life. He attended the Berklee College of Music

in Boston, Mass.

 

Bob has played with a long list of great jazz artists like Ernie Watts’

Quartet (for over 25 years), Joe Farrell, Peggy Lee, Victor Feldman,

Horace Silver, Doc Severinsen, Howard Roberts, John Klemmer, Jack

Sheldon, Rosemary Clooney, Natalie Cole, The Bill Holman Band, Bob

Florence Jazz Orchestra, Bill Watrous’ Wildlife Refuge Big Band, Mike

Barone’s Big Band, Bruce Lofgren’s Band, etc.

 

He has recorded with every sort of artist from Gordon Lightfoot to

Bette Midler and Dolly Parton, from Placido Domingo to Henry Mancini

to Leonard Cohen and Five For Fighting. You’ve heard him on a

million film and television soundtracks including The Simpsons, Family

Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show, King Of The Hill, Austin

Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, A Guy Thing, Torque, Envy, Bruce

Almighty, WB Looney Tunes, Bottle Rocket and The Life Aquatic. You

can hear Bob play on the 20th Century Fox fanfare playing the snare

drum every minute of the day somewhere in a movie theatre or on

DVD.

 

Bob is also a vibraphone player, and you can hear him on recordings

by Stanley Clarke, Nelly Furtado, Chantal Kreviazuk, Bill Perkins,

Lorraine Feather, Greta Matassa, and many others. He was Peggy

Lee’s vibe player for years, and currently plays vibes and composes for

polychrome, a group he formed with Sam Riney and John Chiodini.

 

Bob plays DW drums, PAISTE cymbals and REMO drumheads

exclusively.
